ABOUT US

The Accountancy Practice
Set up in 1992 the practice specialises in providing accountancy, taxation and company secretarial services. We act as accountants for the small business, performing as their general accounts department and combining the role of ‘finance director’ at reasonable rates. This formula has proven to be successful for clients, many of whom have grown from very small beginnings to substantial organisations.

Tutorial and revision software
Roger Storey, author of Introduction to Cost and Management Accounting created the software following publication of this book. With a background as lecturer in accounting and taxation at three Colleges, Chief Examiner for RSA III and an assistant examiner for the ACCA, he was acutely aware that students need to practice as much as possible in order to pass their exams. And computer software to enable them to do this seemed a natural step. The original programs (covering costing subjects) were an immediate success with AAT students studying for their Central exams. Since then, the range of subjects has been extended to include financial accounting topics and taxation topics. The need to practice was a central message in his regular columns for the AAT Magazine in which he answered students’ questions.

The software is constantly updated and improved and continues to be a source of help to all students studying accountancy and taxation subjects.

Accountancy Aid was first awarded Investor in People recognition in 2000 and provides full support to staff through their professional studies.

History of Cherry Orchard Road
The road first appeared on maps in 1865 and was originally called Plough Lane, leading from Gravel Road to the Plough Inn in Hastings Road. At one time there was a Post Office located here and the Bromley Common Baptist Church had its main entrance in the road. In the 1920s Richmal Crompton, author of the Just William books, lived in the road and wrote the first William books there. Mrs Florence Grainger, who lived in the road for over 60 years, has sadly recently passed on, aged 94. A Residents Association, of which we are proud members, was formed in 2005 to protect the road, which is unadopted and maintained by the residents. No. 26 was originally the local smithy and the small building continued as such until the late 1950s. John Humphries, trading as Johnny of Bromley, built a credit betting office on the site in 1960. And we moved in to the building in 1998 and had it extended in 2005.
